Inferior is the one when asked promotes their own skills in practice,
There are doubts as to the trueness of that one, for it is not the [right] path.
For they desire to be a learned one seeking to purify themselves [by knowledge].
如有守戒行人，
Rú yǒu shǒu jiè xíngrén,
問不及先具演，
wèn bùjí xiān jù yǎn,
有疑正非法道，
yǒu yí zhèng fēifǎ dào,
欲來學且自淨。
yù lái xué qiě zìjìng.
For they desire to be a learned one seeking to purify themselves [by knowledge].
